The Tropical Negroni is perfect for a tropical tiki-themed engagement party or bachelorette party any time of year. I took the classic Negroni and made it almost unrecognizable with all of the upgrades I threw at it. The reason I am still calling this a Negroni is because that was what I started with, three equal parts of alcohol; one part Campari, one part vermouth, and one part spirit.
From there I went a little AWOL because I wanted something tropical but the Negroni isn’t exactly something people correlate with tropical; but why can’t it be? I just looked around my kitchen for inspiration and found some fruits I wanted to play with and as I was cutting the pineapple out I thought it would be great to use the body as a vessel to serve the cocktail in. I also wanted some strawberries in there and I knew this cocktail would need a little sugar to balance everything so I grabbed a bottle of Monin strawberry syrup. With the tropical theme I was torn between using tequila or rum for my base but I had recently bought some white rum and hadn’t used it in any of my creations so that was what made my decision for me (I’m sure the tequila would have been amazing also). I had a lot of fun creating this cocktail and I’m sure you will too!
